The male external catheter (MEC) connects to a urinary collection bag on the lower leg by means of a short length of latex tubing. The collection bag's outlet valve attaches to the vehicle exit tube via a short length of flexible latex tubing by way of a high-flow, quick-disconnect coupling with an automatic shutoff feature. You can operate with the bag outlet valve open or closed. If it is closed, then you can periodically open it to dump the contents whenever necessary. This comes in handy when operating in freezing conditions in case the vehicle exit tube freezes. In that case, a 30 oz. storage capacity on your leg is just the ticket.
